Glimmers of Civilization

There are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once know as humanity... he was one of them.

Zero from "The Grand Budapest Hotel"

Just as the Grand Budapest Hotel lost its magnificence, civilization has lost its courteousness and charm. We are no longer a society that cares about helping others. We have become so obsessed with individuality and the pursuit of self-satisfaction. We no longer care how our words and actions affect each other or even the grand scheme of the human race. In this quote Zero was talking about M. Gustave, a man who still holds on to his manners, even in the face of death itself.
